Women Business Owners Network Grows in Rutland

The Women Business Owners Network (WBON), a statewide organization that fosters, supports, and advances women business ownership in Vermont through learning and networking opportunities is growing in Rutland.

The Rutland chapter, the newest in Vermont, had its official start in September and now sees 12-15 women from various field and levels of business ownership at each monthly meeting.

Meetings offer members a chance to hear from a guest speaker as well as casually network with their peers. Speaker topics have included tax-readiness, creating or revising a business plan, adding employees, and work-life balance.

The Rutland chapter has seen steady growth with over 50 women in total attending since its start. The chapter is also a continued support system for the graduates of the Center for Women & Enterprise (CWE) Business Planning course that is offered in Rutland several times a year. The WBON Rutland Chapter has at least seven members who have graduated from the CWE course and will be excellent mentors for the next cohort of graduates.

As the chapter continues to grow, the group has several goals in mind. The chapter hopes to continue to increase membership, represent Rutland with members on the statewide board or committees, support CWE graduates, and bring a statewide event to the Rutland region.

The WBON Rutland chapter meets on the first Monday of each month from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the Green Mountain Power Energy Innovation Center at 66 Merchants Row in downtown Rutland. The WBON statewide spring conference is on April 30 from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Hampton Inn in Colchester. The next Rutland chapter meeting will be on May 6 and will focus on marketing for small businesses. Contact the chapter coordinators here to learn more and see the membership options here.
