Meet the Manager: Ryan Black-Deegan

Ryan Black-Deegan is a Tax Manager at Davis & Hodgdon. He earned his MBA from Plymouth State College and BS in Business/Economics from Skidmore College. He is also a member of the American Institute of CPAs, a board member of the Vermont Society of CPAs, and treasurer and member of the Executive Committee for Generator Makerspace. Most recently, Ryan was celebrated as one of Vermont Business Magazine’s class of 2023 “Rising Stars” comprising 40 up-and-coming leaders under 40!

What is your dream travel destination?

There are a few, but the Maldives are probably at the top of my list.

Before working at Davis & Hodgdon what was the most interesting job you held?

Prior to DH the most interesting job I held was professional light designer for theater productions – largely focusing on dance productions but with plenty of plays mixed in.

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? 

Definitely tacos, but nachos are a close second.

Where were you born and raised?

Born in Burlington, raised in Montpelier and East Montpelier, and then moved back to Vermont a short time after finishing up college.

Favorite hobbies?

Soccer and skiing.
