Vermonters Warned of IRS Phone Scam

Vermonters are being warned by the Vermont Attorney General’s Office about a phone scam that has been reported by hundreds of Vermonters!

The callers are claiming to call from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and are demanding money.  The caller is threatening legal action if the alleged outstanding debt is not paid immediately.  The callers then direct the consumer to call a phone number and make a payment by credit card.

The phone calls are a scam.
