REBUILDING TOGETHER*GREATER BURLINGTON PROJECT DAY

On Saturday, May 5, 2012 Rebuilding Together*Greater Burlington had their 16th Project Day where they put on two home renovations; one in South Burlington and one in St. George. Many volunteers gathered together to undertake home renovations that were needed for a neighbor in need. The renovations in South Burlington included roof improvements, window repairs, interior painting, and new kitchen appliances installed. In St. George the roof was repaired for a family home.

Rebuilding Together * Greater Burlington,  the local Vermont chapter having served the community since 1996, rebuilds the homes and lives of the Vermont’s most vulnerable homeowners and families at no cost to those served. By providing these critical home safety repairs and accessibility modifications Vermont homeowners can live independently in safe and warm homes. Organizations like Rebuilding Together*Greater Burlington are so critical in addressing the affordable housing gap and community blight in Vermont. As the aging housing stock increases, the state’s income level continuously decreases making it nearly impossible for many low-income homeowners to remain living in affordable, safe and healthy homes. The impact is lasting; neighborhoods are revitalized and families are able to stay together.

Of the volunteers, our very own Katie Rubalcaba and Jordan Nellé, CPA helped in the projects that took place at the South Burlington Site. This is Jordan’s second year helping on Rebuilding Together Project Day and Katie’s First year with helping on project day, as well as her first year as a Board Member for RTGB.
