Power Outages Could Extend Through Christmas
From VPR News:
Utility crews continue to work across northern Vermont to restore power to about 10,000 residents left in the dark by the ice storm. Officials say the continuing cold weather is slowing progress.
David Hallquist is CEO of the Vermont Electric Cooperative, whose service territory was hard hit by the storm. As of late this morning, almost 9,000 VEC members were without power. The greatest concentration of outages are currently in Berkshire, Derby, Fairfax, Glover and Montgomery. Members who live in the most isolated areas risk facing the longest outages.
Hallquist says the ice continues to be a danger to power lines across the region.
