Intro to Succession Planning Workshop for Business Owners Coming to Rutland and Vergennes Vermont
Vermont Employer Ownership Center (VEOC) is holding free workshops on ownership succession planning this month. The series, “The Search for a Good Exit” will be kicking off on April 28th in Vergennes, followed by a session on April 29th in Rutland. The workshop is a great place to start for business owners considering the diversity of their succession options.
In this seminar, you will learn the basics of how to choose a path for ownership succession in your business. We will take a close look at four different ways of selling a business: to an outsider, to family members, to managers or to the larger group of employees. John Davis from the Williston office of Davis & Hodgdon Associates CPAs and Don Jamison from the Vermont Employee Ownership Center will give an overview of the mechanics of business valuation and the most common ownership transition models. While we will get into some technical details, the focus will be on stories about each path, told by owners who have been involved in the sale of Vermont businesses.
