Vermont Dept of Taxes Update: Software Errors Forcing Them To Suspend Work on Amended Returns

From the Vermont Dept. of Taxes:

The Vermont Department of Taxes is currently working with tax software vendors to find solutions that are in the best interest of Vermont taxpayers. We anticipate making an announcement sometime next week. In the meantime, we are suspending work on all returns amended due to the IN-155 issue that arrive beginning June 29. In any case, there will be no penalty and interest assessed on these returns regardless of when we receive them.

If you have already sent us your client’s amended return, it may or may not have been processed. We will put a hold on the return and contact the client with more information in the next few weeks.

If you haven’t sent us your client’s amended return yet, please watch for information and guidance next week on our website. We will not assess penalty and interest.
