Vermont Creates Draft Regulations on Cloud Tax

The Vermont Department of Taxes has created draft regulatory language related to the collection of sales tax on pre-written software accessed remotely – more commonly known as the “cloud tax.”

You can find the draft regulations on the Vermont Department of Taxes web site here.

The department is inviting comments on this draft language until Oct. 1, 2014. Following this informal comment period, the department intends to initiate the formal rule-making process during which further comments can be submitted.

Comments concerning the current draft of the regulation can be submitted to the Vermont tax commissioner’s office at [email protected], or 802-828-3763.
