Vermont: Compost Will Not Be Subject to Sales Tax Beginning July 1

Effective July 1, 2014: If you buy compost for your home, farm, or place of business, you may notice that certain purchases are no longer subject to sales tax. These include compost, animal manure, manipulated animal manure, and planting mix when sold in volumes of one cubic yard or more, or in an unpackaged form.
