Recent Stimulus Payment Letters from White House Can Be Misunderstood

You may have received a letter from The White House recently that addresses the American Rescue Plan payments. The letter may provide a total amount of direct payments that were direct deposited to your bank account. Unfortunately, the letter also appears to indicate that if you do not receive the direct deposits within 7 days of the letter that you should call the IRS.

Since the direct deposits were made in 2020 and early 2021, you will not receive any payments now. These payments were incorporated with the calculation of the final credit when your tax return was prepared – or will be incorporated if we have not yet completed your return (if you are a D&H client). Any remaining credit due to you will be included in the return.

In the meantime, you may want to check your records to make sure that the total direct deposits that you did receive match the total on the correspondence. If there is a difference please reach out to the IRS at 800-919-9835 or you may have better luck reaching them through their website: www.irs.gov/coronavirus.
