New Vermont Towns Adopting Local Option Taxes

As of July 1, 2015, the Town of Woodstock is adopting a local option tax of 1.0% on the sales of:

  • Meals 
  • Alcoholic beverages 
  • Short-term room rentals 

As of Oct. 1, 2015, the Town of Colchester is adopting a local option tax of 1.0% on the sales of:

  • Taxable sales
  • Meals
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Short-term room rentals

The 1% is in addition to the state rate of 6.0% on taxable sales, 9.0% on meals and rooms, and 10.0% on alcoholic beverages.
