Rutland Chamber Merges With Rutland Economic Development Corporation
There are lots of changes happening at the Chamber – and in Rutland! The boards of Rutland Economic Development Corporation (REDC) and Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce voted unanimously to create a merged and streamlined organization that will better serve their members and the greater Rutland region.
The merger announcement came after four months of conversation about how the nonprofits could strengthen and expand services to better meet economic and community development needs of businesses and residents. The merger will be completed in September and a new name for the organization will be released at a later date.
“This has been discussed off and on for years, and the pandemic highlighted the importance of thinking differently, rapid planning and delivery of information, access to financial support, and member and customer care,” REDC President John Casella II and Chamber President Laurie Mecier-Brochu said in a joint statement.
The new organization will be located in the Chamber offices at 50 Merchants Row. The staff of both organizations will have new and exciting modified roles.
Businesses that were members of one organization or the other will see their dues remain unchanged for the current year and those businesses who are members of both organizations will see a decrease in their dues.
The upcoming merger of the Rutland Chamber and the REDC promises great strides to further collaboration, a stronger voice for the region and a deeper suite of services for the businesses in Rutland County.
