Meet the Associate: Lori Pavich

October 13, 2021

Lori is a Remote Staff Accountant for the firm’s Client Accounting Services division, and she has been with Davis & Hodgdon for almost four years! She has a love of science and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Zoology and a minor in Chemistry from California State University Long Beach. For several years she worked in an entomology lab as an undergraduate, and after she received her bachelor’s degree she took a small break from school… and student loans. Lori began working as an office manager and found that she really enjoyed the business environment which prompted her to change her career path.

Lori continued to be an office manager for several years but left to move to Oregon. In Oregon, she decided to focus on bookkeeping and started working as an independent contractor. Lori eventually moved to Vermont and started taking business and accounting classes at Castleton University. There she met Aida Volpone from Davis & Hodgdon and arranged to have her speak at the college. Aida informed Lori that the firm was looking for a bookkeeper and - the rest is history! Lori loves what she does, and she looks forward to many rewarding years at Davis & Hodgdon.

Q & A with Lori Pavich

Before working at DH/CLF what was the most interesting job you held?

The most interesting work I have done was not a job exactly. I spent 3 years volunteering at the Marine Mammal Care Center in San Pedro California. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in Detroit Michigan. I also lived in Southern California for 15 years, Oregon for 3, and have been in Vermont for 8 years.

Do you have any pets?

I love animals and currently have a 10yr old Labrador Retriever, Leia. I am also about to adopt a Labrador Retriever puppy. I get him on 10/17 when he will be 8 weeks old. I am very excited!

Favorite Hobbies?

I have been making soap for the last 5 years. During the COVID lockdown I started a side business, Mammoth Skin Care, with my friend. We both have science degrees and feel like we, kind of, get to play in a lab again. We have been really enjoying developing fragrances, getting creative with colors, and expanding our product lines.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

When I lived in Portland Oregon, I owned a popup donut business. I sold mini donuts that were drizzled with various toppings. I did quite well. Portland has tons of street fairs and plenty of events, but my favorite event was at the International Rose Test Garden in Washington Park. I got to set my tent up in the garden surrounded by endless roses.
